Hills, the Phalgu and the pilgrim season
This isn't Patna. Gaya isn't flat. Three hills, Brahmayoni, Mangla-Gauri and Ram-Shila, rise inside the city limits, and the roads that skirt them throw up short, honest climbs. You'll notice it on the way to Brahmayoni. With gears and assist you spin up those pitches easily.
Sahib Ganj and the Kedarnath vegetable market form the commercial core, with tight lanes and carts hogging half the road. Bodh Gaya is some 12 km south. Wazirganj and Tekari lie out on other highways, which makes them weekend rides, not commutes. On weekdays most trips are 2 to 8 km.
May runs hot, a mean daily maximum near 39.8 degrees. About 1,025 mm of rain falls from June to September. October to March is pilgrim season: the best weather for cycling, and the busiest roads.

Electric cycles in Gaya: FAQs
A geared one like the T-Rex Air can, in low gear with assist on. You'll be pedalling, not coasting, and braking early on the descent. Heavier riders or loads should pick a bigger battery.
About 12 km on the Gaya-Bodh Gaya road, roughly 25 km round trip. The X1 claims up to 45 km a charge and the Ranger up to 75 km, so either does a pilgrim-season day trip.
July and August are heavy, and low spots by the Phalgu can flood. Steer round waterlogged roads, wipe the bike down, and charge indoors. Ordinary rain on the road is no trouble.
No. Bihar's EV policy pays purchase incentives only to electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers that meet FAME standards. A 250 W, 25 km/h e-cycle doesn't, so there's nothing to claim.
No. Pedal assist with a 250 W motor and assist cutting out at 25 km/h keeps an e-cycle outside CMVR rule 2(u). No licence, registration or insurance.
