Electric Cycles in Delhi
Laxmi Nagar to Connaught Place is about 8 km, and in April that's a sweaty half hour on a plain cycle. On an e-cycle you walk into the office in a clean shirt, and many riders only do the 2 to 5 km leg from Rohini, Mayur Vihar or Lajpat Nagar to the metro.

- Flat colony-to-office commute
X1
₹27,999Delhi's flat roads mean you'll hardly think about gears. The X1's 45 km claimed range takes a Mayur Vihar to Connaught Place round trip several times before it wants a charger.
- Cross-city distances
Viper
₹66,999Rohini to Nehru Place is the sort of 20 km-plus run Delhi throws at you. The Viper's claimed 85 km is the longest in the EMotorad line-up, so a week of those commutes doesn't mean nightly charging.
- Students and shorter riders
ST-X
₹32,999The ST-X has a smaller frame, made for riders from 4'9" to 5'7". Good for school runs and the quick hops between North Campus colleges, hostels and the Vishwavidyalaya metro station.

Riding an e-cycle in Delhi
Hills? Only the Ridge, near the university and around Vasant Kunj. Everything else is close to dead flat, so pedal assist here is about distance and heat, not climbing. Dwarka to Janakpuri District Centre is a typical run, and the hop from Laxmi Nagar over the ITO bridge isn't much worse. Pack a spare shirt anyway.
Lutyens' Delhi, Chanakyapuri and the older DDA colonies have wide roads with service lanes. India Gate towards the Lodhi Garden side at dawn is lovely. Ring Road and Outer Ring Road? Different animal. Fast, heavy, and hardly any safe crossings. Take the parallel colony roads when you can, and use a flyover's service lane instead of the flyover itself.
Plenty of people ride only the first leg. From Lajpat Nagar, Rohini or Mayur Vihar it's a couple of kilometres, three or four, maybe five, to the nearest station, so they lock up and board the metro. TomTom's 2025 Traffic Index put New Delhi 23rd for congestion worldwide, so skipping the peak-hour road part pays back quickly.
Then there's the weather. Safdarjung's May maximum averages close to 40 °C, so go early, carry water, and park in shade to keep the battery cool. July and August bring most of the rain, and Minto Bridge and ITO can hold water. By November and December it's smog you worry about. A proper mask and a front light matter more than speed.

Electric cycles in Delhi: FAQs
The bike copes, it's the rider who needs a plan. May highs at Safdarjung average almost 40 °C. Ride before 10 am or after sunset, leave the cycle out of direct sun, and let the battery cool before you plug it in.
Not any more. Delhi's 2020 EV policy paid an e-cycle subsidy (25% up to ₹5,500), but the Delhi EV Policy 2026, in force since 1 July 2026, pays purchase incentives only on e-two-wheelers, e-autos and e-goods vehicles, and none on e-cycles.
Easier to park than carry. Most riders lock up at or near the station and go on by train. Folding cycles are sometimes allowed at the operator's discretion, so look up the DMRC rules for your line first.
About 8 km, over the ITO bridge and along Vikas Marg. Expect 25 to 30 minutes on low assist, give or take the signals. Any adult EMotorad model handles it comfortably.
No. A pedal-assist e-cycle up to 250 W, with assisted speed up to 25 km/h, isn't a motor vehicle under CMVR rule 2(u). No licence, registration or insurance.
On the worst AQI days, ride less and wear a snug N95. Assist helps, since you breathe less hard than on a plain cycle. Fog is the other problem, so keep front and rear lights on from November to January.
