Electric Cycles in Rishikesh
Hops between Tapovan, Muni Ki Reti and Ram Jhula are only two to six km, but the roads keep climbing and dropping around ashram compounds, which is where an e-cycle's assist matters. The Char Dham highway fills with pilgrims from spring through autumn, so be out early.

Rishikesh: Ram Jhula, Tapovan and the Badrinath road
Forget a single centre. Rishikesh is hillside neighbourhood after hillside neighbourhood, strung along the river. Ram Jhula, Tapovan and Muni Ki Reti share the main bank, and the roads linking them climb and drop around ashram compounds. Laxman Jhula? Closed since the 2020 collapse, with a glass bridge still being built. Ask before you assume a crossing is open. Hops are two to six km, but you'll notice the slope.
Pilgrims fill the Rishikesh–Badrinath highway, the Char Dham road, from spring through autumn. Toward Shivpuri and Byasi it's buses, taxis and rafting vans nose to tail. Beat them: be out early.
The rain is no joke. About 1,540 mm a year, and July and August can push close to 480 mm in a month. Slides and washed-out shoulders show up on hill roads. Down in the valley May averages around 39 °C, cooler than the plains, still hot if you're climbing.

Electric cycles in Rishikesh: FAQs
It's a pedestrian suspension bridge. Read the current signs, and walk the cycle across if they say so. Laxman Jhula has been shut since 2020.
Yes, but pick well. The town stands at about 340 m under the Shivaliks, with sharp lanes and long road climbs past Shivpuri. A geared bike, the T-Rex Air for instance, is the smart choice.
Heavy rain can slip or wash out hill roads. Don't ride in downpours or landslide warnings, and brake early on wet slopes.
No. Uttarakhand's purchase-subsidy policy has lapsed, and there's no subsidy for e-cycles.
No. Under CMVR rule 2(u) a pedal-assist e-cycle with a motor up to 250 W and assisted speed up to 25 km/h isn't a motor vehicle, so no licence, registration or insurance.
