Electric Cycles in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar by sector: wide roads, long gaps
Here's the thing about a planned capital: it's all a bit far apart. Starting from the market in Sector 21, the Sachivalaya, Akshardham in Sector 20 and Mahatma Mandir are each four to ten km off. Wide avenues, hardly any pushing and shoving. Then you step outside the grid. IIT Gandhinagar at Palaj, GNLU, Infocity, GIFT City. Those can stretch a morning to 12 or 15 km.
Metro talk is everywhere. Ahmedabad Metro Phase II is under construction, with one arm to Mahatma Mandir and another to GIFT City. Once trains run, plenty of people will pedal to a station and ride the rest. For now, most riders pair a cycle for local errands with a bus on the Ahmedabad leg.
May is the killer, with daily highs around 41.8 °C, and the Sabarmati itself runs dry by then. Stick to the tree-lined avenues. Leave before nine, come back after six. The monsoon turns up in mid-June, goes on till mid-September and drops about 770 mm in total.

Electric cycles in Gandhinagar: FAQs
Neighbours are close. Crossing town isn't. Sector 21 to Mahatma Mandir is four to ten km, though the wide avenues and thin traffic make it an easy ride.
Once Phase II opens, yes. It's meant to run to Mahatma Mandir with a branch to GIFT City, so a short pedal to the station could replace a long drive. It's still under construction today.
You can, just not at noon. Go early or after six, use the shaded avenues, and don't leave the battery baking in direct sun.
No. Gujarat's EV incentives go to registered electric two-, three- and four-wheelers. A pedal-assist e-cycle isn't registered, so it isn't covered.
No. A pedal-assist e-cycle with a motor up to 250 W and assisted speed up to 25 km/h isn't a motor vehicle under CMVR rule 2(u). No licence, registration or insurance.
