Electric Cycles in Silvassa

Most people in Silvassa work 3 to 10 km from home, at plastics units and FMCG godowns, so battery maths for an e-cycle is easy. Shift-change traffic jams narrow roads with trucks, and about 1,750 mm of June to September rain makes good disc brakes and lights matter.

A factory-belt town: riding in Silvassa

Crossing the whole town takes twenty minutes. Plastics units, FMCG distributors, godowns: that's what sets the day. Around shift change, trucks and bikes jam the same narrow roads, which is why decent disc brakes and lights matter more than speed.

Sitting about 32 m up in tropical, humid air, Silvassa has no weather station of its own. Valsad, about 50 km away, is the nearest IMD station, and its normals show roughly 1,750 mm a year, almost entirely in the June to September monsoon (July's the wettest). Daytime highs peak around 35 °C in April and May. Cooler mornings and evenings beat the afternoon by a mile.

Battery maths is easy when most people live 3 to 10 km from work. Longer runs are another story: NH 848A heads towards Maharashtra and Gujarat, and NH 48 runs through Bhilad to Daman, 30 km away. Pack a bigger battery and think about traffic.

Electric cycles in Silvassa: FAQs

  • Yes, it's about 16 km one way and a mid-size pack covers it. Trucks crowd the road near Bhilad, so go early and use lights even by day.

  • Roughly 1,750 mm falls at Valsad, the nearest IMD station, mostly June to September. Showers are fine to ride through. Afterwards wipe the bike, keep connectors dry, and don't charge a pack that's damp.

  • No. The UT's EV benefits are road-tax and registration relief for registered EVs, and there's no cash subsidy for e-cycles. An e-cycle up to 250 W isn't registered at all.

  • No. CMVR rule 2(u) excludes a pedal-assist e-cycle whose motor is at most 250 W and whose assist stops at 25 km/h, so nothing to register and no insurance either.

  • April and May are the hottest, with highs around 35 °C. Ride early or after sunset, and bring water. It's your comfort that suffers, more than battery range.
