Walking in the store to buy a traditional bicycle under INR 7,000, Dhiranjan Kumar Dhiraj noticed an electric cycle with M.S. Dhoni’s signature. He immediately said, “Yeh Dhoni wali cycle dikhado!”
When we first started, we never imagined that most of India would come to know us as the makers of the ‘Dhoni wali cycle.’ It’s one of the greatest honours we could have received.
Hailing from Bhagalpur, Bihar, Dhiranjan is a huge MS Dhoni fan. He immediately started to recall his favourite Dhoni memories. Having heard of electric cycles for the first time, the mere fact that Dhoni endorses the product was enough for him.
Today, he has swapped his traditional bike for an electric cycle to travel to work at K.N.H. Medical College & Hospital, where he works as a Computer Operator.
He shares that people are amazed that his cycle runs on a battery everywhere he goes! In fact, he always carries his charger to work because people often ask to take his cycle for a ride and use up his battery; he chuckles and shares stories.
“Iss vigyan ko bas vigyapan ki zaroorat hai, hum sab jaantey hi nahi is aavishkaar ko. Yeh saarey mushkilo ka hal hai,” he says. This translates to: "This technology just needs more marketing; none of us are really familiar with this invention! It could be the solution to many problems, like health, pollution, and dependence on fuel."
